Embracing Opportunities

Wow, I have been really busy with school starting and lots of auditions, which is good! I had the opportunity to speak to approximately 50 kids at the Santee Summer Day Camp on Sept 3rd so it was a great event. I spoke to the kids about the importance on getting a good education, becoming a good reader, making healthy lifestyle choices and becoming a young changemaker and gave them examples of how easy it is to give back to their community. I told them they could start a lemonade stand, recycle to raise money for their cause, or begin a reading hour after school at their library. I shared with them details about some of the Venture the Youth Venture Ambassadors run and distributed handouts that Kate had sent me for the event so it was very successful!

I also was the celebrity Guest Host for the Living Advantage, Inc., fundraiser at Skateland in Northridge, CA (in the Los Angeles area) on Sept. 12th so it was a lot of fun and I am always happy to support this organization, which provides virtual online network for at risk and foster youth. Living Advantage strives to create a safe and secure environment in which youth are able to store and maintain their vital life documents to ensure their continued education and their eventual successful independent living. Additionally, Living Advantage provides an online social network of peer and community support.

I was invited to attend a Miley Cyrus concert last week in Anaheim and take two of my friends. We were supposed to meet her before the concert but I had an audition for a Disney pilot and we missed it by 5 minutes because traffic was awful and my mom has never missed any of my events, auditions or work out of the 8 years I have been in show business. We were bummed for sure but my mom gave my friends and I something to think about. She told us that if it were meant to be … it would’ve happened and that when one door closes, another one opens so I believe there will be another opportunity and an even better one!

I also got to meet Ray Lewis, #52 of the Baltimore Ravens when they played the San Diego Chargers a few weeks ago! He’s good friends with my dad so it was really cool and he was very nice even though he made the tackle on the last play of the game that kept the Chargers from scoring.

It’s evident in everyday life that we all have problems in our communities that need to be addressed so as a YV Ambassador I want to do what I can to help more youth start their ventures so we can make our communities, our country and our world a better place!!!
