From October 1-4, 2009, YV Mexico held it's 3rd Annual National Gathering of Youth Venturers in Los Pueblos Mancomunados, Oaxaca. The National Gathering brought together 46 YVers from across Mexico to share experiences, strengthen leadership skillls and meet other changemakers. The Venturers attended different workshops faciliated by fellow Youth Venturers about topics pertinent to their projects.
Some examples of the Venturers Workshops include:
- Community Leadership: Presented by Yina from Venture team Marabunta
- Social Movements: What Happened in Mexico on October 2, 1968? Presented by Cristobal from Venture team Cristobal
- Recycling Creation: Presented by Alicia and Lupita from Venture team Ekos
- Capoeira: Presented by Fernando from Venture team Longe do Mar
Additionally, Ashoka Fellow Carlos Cruz presented a workshop to the group about how to manage conflict inside and outside the team. Carlos Cruz developed the Cauce Ciudadano Community Center to promote a model of violence prevention that identifies influential gang leaders and helps create new roles for them as nonviolent role models in their schools.
All in all, Mexico's 3rd National Gathering was a huge success! All the Youth Venturers who participated in the National Gathering had a great time and left the Gathering more inspired than ever.
