The more I work on it, the more I get excited about celebrating Global Entrepreneurship Week November 16-22. Now that I've been involved with Youth Venture for a while, and have launched a Venture that has become sustainable, I really appreciate the importance of making sure that everyone knows that they can be a changemaker. We as Youth Venturers can do a lot of great things individually, but unless we help everyone in our communities find their inner social entrepreneur, we won't be able to solve the world's problems.
Global Entrepreneurship Week is a great opportunity to broadcast social entrepreneurship to your community. I'm very excited about doing this in the Tulane University (New Orleans, LA) Community. My friends and colleagues in the Ashoka U program and I are still hammering out the details of exactly what we're going to do, but it's looking like we're leaning towards a social entrepreneurship fair. The goal of this fair will be for students to learn what social entrepreneurship is by seeing and speaking with social entrepreneurs themselves, as well as to recruit more students to help build the social entrepreneurship movement at Tulane. We're also thinking of having a "Group Think" event like Social Entrepreneurs of New Orleans does, where students come together and develop ideas for a venture that would solve a specific social problem, or having a social innovation contest.
I hope that every Youth Venturer will do something to celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week. I know that Youth Venture has a list of fabulous ideas for events that people can implement during the week. If you're in New Orleans, I hope to see you at our Tulane Global Entrepreneurship Week event!
