The Youth Venture New England office and its VISTAs are all about fighting climate change and promoting a greener world. Everyone is encouraged to find alternate modes of transportation to commute to work - there is a biker, a bunch of walkers, and one longboarder that skates up and down the hill everyday. Reusable bags are brought for grocery shopping, air conditioning is used sparingly, and everyone makes sure to shut down computers every night. This all might seem like common sense, but these little things make a big difference. We also managed to get some quotes from our colleagues up in Concord, New Hampshire to talk about specific actions they take in day-to-day life. Here's to Blog Action Day and what we are all doing to contribute to the cause.
- "I stopped eating meat and only shop natural, organic, and as locally as possible." -Rob Alexander
- "I ride my skateboard to work everyday and send out an entertaining yet informative email to all my friends each winter on how they can conserve energy and electricity. Simple tips like letting hot food cool to room temperature before putting it in the refrigerator." -Bret Carr
- "I monitor my carbon footprint." -Ethan Burton
- "I find inspiration from all of the amazing Venturers we help support - from reusable bags, CFL's, pushing the recycling agenda, and so much more. Just being in the mindset of reducing, reusing, and recycling has changed so many of my everyday habits. Thanks Venturers!" -Matt Crandall
