He was recognized for raising money to provide food and school supplies for the poor village of Thembeletu, South Africa. How did he do this? He sold handcrafted bead jewelry made by the villagers themselves! He even raised awareness, while raising money by selling crafted AIDS pins at a major AIDS/HIV walk in Washington DC.
