Welcome New Venturer Shannon!

Crain’s New York recently featured the philanthropic efforts of several teenagers, including Youth Venturer Shannon McNamara. After family trips to Peru and Africa as a young teenager, Shannon began to think about how she could have a larger impact on the communities she visited. Now 17 and the founder of SHARE (Shannon’s After-School Reading Exchange), Shannon is one of several teenagers profiled who are not only aware of global issues, but have the technology and entrepreneurial spirit to engage with those issues globally. In fact, according to the United Nations Foundation, 79% of American girls have contributed food or clothing to communities in need in the past year. Our generation is giving of its time and talent, and mobilizing peers to do the same.
