Care about what's happening in less developed parts of the world? Take a few minutes to share your thoughts in Concern Worldwide's Creative Writing Competition, and you could win a netbook, e-reader, or MP3 player! (And get published to boot!)
Here's the deal: Imagine you're a journalist stationed in a developing country - and you write for an internationally renowned newspaper. Your editor has asked you to write a 1,000 word article on one of the following topics:
-Living on less than US$2 a day in the developing world
-Imagining the future of a child born today in the developing world
-Important lessons we can learn from the developing world
It's open to everyone 12 and up - and there are four categories, each with prizes:
Junior: 12 to 15 years
Senior: 16 to 18 years
College: full- or part-time student in college or university
Adult: 19+ years not enrolled in a college or university
The competition is sponsored by Concern Worldwide, an international humanitarian organisation working to reduce suffering and eliminate extreme poverty in the world’s economically poorest countries.
The deadline is March 27, 2011, so you have some time - just don't forget!
