Bill Drayton receives Honorary Degree from Marquette University, Host School for the 2011 YV Summit!

Today's post written by YV Intern Rhia Bakshi.

The 2011 Youth Venture Summit is symbolic in more ways than one. For one, it seeks to bring together a community of young changemakers in Wisconsin, a state that has often been referred to as the hub of social reform. But more importantly, this year’s Summit will reinforce the long-standing bond between Ashoka and Marquette, two institutions that share a common vision of social change.

The Ashoka-Marquette rapport was recently brought to light at Marquette’s Commencement ceremony, which was held on May 22nd this year. Among the recipients of an honorary degree from Marquette University was Bill Drayton, founder of Ashoka. The award was meant to honor Bill’s role as a leading visionary in the field of social innovation. With his unwavering commitment to creating a global network of changemakers, Bill Drayton embodies the Marquette motto Be the Difference.
