Maybe it's not the case of over optimizing, but optimizing too fast. Search engines might give more value to a site that has grown in popularity slowly. At this point, it's all speculation. Its really hard to put into words what the difference is but I think anybody wanting to rank well needs to have at least one person who really cares about the site and works on improving things every day.

There is a "natural" link growth and there is also an "unnatural" link growth. Building 1000 backlinks in one day for sure would raise up alarms on Google's indexing algorithm. Make your link growth "natural" by aiming for small increments per week.

I also offer free Google SEO tips.

Optimizing too fast is not that good. Google SEO tips and tricks is right because the google will think if you created more links in 1 day about 800-1000 it will think that you're a robot. The best method for me is building natural links even though it is time consuming. This blog is good too, at first you need to know your audience or your topic before creating a website, then when creating a website you need make it a SEO friendly. After that, you can now do Offpage SEO like keyword research and link building.

Botox comment is good and I will try his suggestions about doing SEO. But first I think after creating your website you must submit first the site to some other directories to get index.

When it comes to SEO, good lins are what really counts (preferably do-follow) and a link on a page with a high pagerank is much more valuable than 30 or 50 on pages with pr 1.

I must agree on the post above, not only the number of links counts (but it extremely important), but also the quality of these links.
