Never too early to start managing $$$

Today's post written by YV Intern Yoseph Ayele.

Changemaker Fabian believes that young people should learn how to manage their money, no matter their age and the amount of money they have. Fabian became interested in financial literacy at the age of 10, and two years later he developed an iPhone/iPod/iPad application to teach young people about money management.

In several African countries, development organizations have been experimenting with Youth Savings Accounts (YSA), a financial service that allows young people to start saving at an early age. Programs in Ghana and Uganda have shown positive results. Young people who received financial literacy training and access to a savings account tended to perform better in school and had more confidence about the future.
